Nathalie: “XXXO is about crying and how beautiful and relieving it can be. And about happiness, in connection with the sadness in the world. I’m concerned with that, but at the same time it’s distressing that the sorrow of the world doesn’t really touch me.”

Charlotte: “We are two girls who grew up in a very safe, rich and kind environment. We’re both very happy, but we have this desperate craving to feel something. Sadness is the best way achieve that. We’ve found out that, even if we don’t feel genuinely sad, the physical act of crying always puts us on the right track. So on stage, we investigate what makes us cry and we push our limits in search for different ways to let the tears flow.”

XXXO was the first project in the frame of OG Supports. It is the first independent creation of Nathalie Marie Verbeke and Charlotte De Bruyne, both actresses in several Ontroerend Goed-productions. OG SUPPORTS was a formula designed by Ontroerend Goed to support young creators. In the first place, this support was artistic and includes coaching and guidance. The aim was to stimulate work that the company felt related to, in view of a possible flow-through in future projects and collaborations within the collective.

'A remarkable exploration of weeping… it's a wonderful relief from the preciousness of standard emoting.'
