You are invited to a summit.
You are invited to a play called SUMMIT.
You know, of course, that these are not the same thing.
You are well aware of the boundaries between reality and fiction.
You enjoy seeing reality in a way that you have not seen it before.
That is why you choose theatre.
However, we cannot promise you that you will always see fiction.
Meeting or meta-theatre? SUMMIT explores the boundaries between fact and fiction, belief and doubt, beauty and horror. What happens when words appear to be true, when they are not quite so? When you really want to believe something, even though you know better?
With SUMMIT, Ontroerend Goed examines the power of our imagination. A performance that doesn’t ask us to choose what is real, but rather invites us to dare to believe what we can imagine.
‘There’s a great power in the inability of theatre to create a complete illusion’

‘a witty piece of metatheatre whose main political intervention is to prompt individual contemplation of issues concerning imagination, agency, resistance, belief, responsibility.’
‘SUMMIT emphasizes the power of imagination and thus the power of theatre itself. It is no coincidence that in authoritarian regimes the arts are often targeted.’
